living walls

Although often undertaken for aesthetic reasons only, living walls and living facades can provide many benefits. They introduce greenery over unused or under utilized wall surfaces, contribute to energy efficiency of buildings, improve air quality, and provide urban wildlife habitat and biodiversity.

There is a broad variety of configurations and building systems for living walls. They can be either part of a building or a free-standing structure that is partially or completely covered with vegetation. They can be hydroponic assemblies or soil-based systems located in the interior or exterior of a building.
